Christina Aguilera Photo-shoot By Peggy Sirota

Stumbled across these beautiful photos of Christina Aguilera today, taken by Peggy Sirota for Maire Claire magazine (February 2010 issue). I love the simplicity of the photographs and the styling of Christina herself - she looks gorgeous and natural, its a look she carries off rather effortlessly and I think she looks at her best like this. Less is definitely more here and I'd love to see more pictures of her like this - I don't think her face can carry too much make up, so the natural look here is perfect.

Beautiful shots.

New Video: 'Can't be Tamed' by Miley Cyrus

Below is the new video for Miley's new single 'Can't be Tamed.' I'm very surprised at how good the video is, it's sleek and edgy and the styling is extremely cool. She looks beautiful and very mature considering how young she still is. The song isn't great but I think the video will definitely help it chart well.

The 2010 Time 100: Lady GaGa

Lady Gaga is featured on TIME Magazine’s annual most influential people in the world list. The issue features an article written by Cyndi Lauper, a gorgeous photo and a video message from Lady Gaga. Check it out below:

“I first heard the name Lady Gaga through a mutual friend. He couldn’t stop talking about her. Then I heard her music, and I thought, Wow, I love this kid.
An artist’s job is to take a snapshot — be it through words or sound, lyrics or song — that explains what it’s like to be alive at that time. Lady Gaga’s art captures the period we’re in right now. These days, you go to a club and wonder who all these kids are. They don’t seem to have jobs. How can they afford to be here? Her song “Beautiful, Dirty, Rich” explains that scene. It’s about the New York prep-school party kids she grew up with. It’s where she came from. Gaga’s lyrics are incredibly literary. When “Bad Romance” starts, the music grabs your ear immediately. Then she opens with the line “I want your ugly/ I want your disease,” and all of a sudden you’re listening. Most of the stuff on the radio is not very clever, but Gaga presents her ideas in a sophisticated manner. She has an incredible pop sensibility.

People forget how young she is. She is barely 24 — much younger than I was when I became famous. It’s very tough being where she is right now. People are pulling her in all different directions. It’s hard to navigate that. Try to imagine what you were like at her age, if you still can. I can’t wait to see how she grows and what she decides her next act will be. She only has two albums out, but already she is inspiring other artists to go further in their own work.

“When I see somebody like Gaga, I sit back in admiration. I’m inspired to pick up the torch again myself. I did an interview with her once, and she showed up with a sculpture on her head. I thought, How awesome. Being around her, I felt like the dust was shaken off of me. I find it very comforting to sit next to somebody and not have to worry that I look like the freak. She isn’t a pop act, she is a performance artist. She herself is the art. She is the sculpture."

Christina Aguilera - 'Not Myself Tonight' New Music Video

Here is the brand new video for Christina Aguilera's new single: 'Not Myself Tonight.' Overall, I think its a great video. Very slick and sleek and some of the outfits and make up are stunning. I think she does try and fit too many looks into the 3 minute video but the image fits perfectly with her new sound and it'll definitely grow on me.

Enjoy!

Sean Kingston Ft Justin Bieber 'Eenie Meenie Video Premiere

Below is the new video by Sean Kingston Ft. Justin Bieber. I'm not normally into stuff as 'pop' as this but the song is ridiculously catchy. And the video deserves a mention as it is directed by my all time favourite music video director, the visionary Ray Kay. The lighting is amazing and the video is fresh, fun and colourful - as well as being very modern and sleek, which is typical of Ray Kay's style. (Note the director putting his mark on the video - look very closely at the beginning where the Hollywood Sign is... a very cool touch ;) ) It fits perfectly with the catchy song and I've no doubt that it'll be a summer hit.

Alexander McQueen's Final Fall Collection

“Each piece is unique, as was he.” Those simple words, at the end of the show notes for the final collection by the late Lee Alexander McQueen, captured the sentiment of a singular talent extinguished too soon. The 16 showpieces that paraded slowly through a gilded salon at the headquarters of luxury titan Francois Pinault were all cut “on the stand” by McQueen in the weeks before he took his own life. In their artistry, imagination and technical wizardry, they brought his fashion spirit to life. Here was a designer with the intelligence and depth of culture to reference centuries of history, and such a forward-looking vision that some of his final messages to the world came via Twitter. A floor-length black gown — the skirt a sweep of couture satin caught in curtain folds at the hip, the bodice paved in golden rococo swirls, the sleeves erupting into three-dimensional embroideries for the “Avatar” age — captured the span of his mind and the skill of his hands.

McQueen continued to experiment with ideas from his last collections, this time engineering prints by digitally capturing entire works of art and weaving them into fabrics. His inspirations ranged from Byzantine art and Old Master paintings to the carvings of Grinling Gibbons, and each look was worn with a bronzed cap, some spiked with a Mohawk of gilded leaves like a Roman war helmet. In a quest for new shapes, he folded sturdy fabrics into jutting and swooping lines that were both organic and otherworldly. Here was a windblown swirl of gilded brocade transformed into a minidress with a pouf skirt; there, a monastic gown depicting statuary, folds of fabric gathered at the back into regal panels. Such an intimate setting allowed for up-close appreciation of the details, the digital patterns painstakingly plotted so that angel wings aligned with the shoulder blades; the grand but graceful line of a dress’s sculpted neckline that arched above the collarbones.

With a haunting soundtrack of operatic music, the presentation was solemn, funereal and even a little spooky — and the references to angels, broken skulls and religious themes eerily prescient. Tears were welling in the eyes of some spectators as the finale dress entered: a grand coat of gold feathers that ended in a froth of embroidered tulle.

The long gowns in particular are just stunning. RIP Alexander McQueen - Fashion won't ever be the same without you.

Video of the Day: 'Dj (I could be Dancing)' by Alphabeat

I love these guys. They're an amazing live band and have a great image that fits perfectly with their cool electro-pop sound. This is a new version of 'Dj' from their current album 'The Beat Is...' and the song will be released on May 31st.

I love the video and Stine (the lead female singer) has amazing style - love the head pieces and check out the cool false lashes and retro make-up. Fabulous all around.

Hope this does well for them as I still think they are a very under-rated band, they should get more recognition, they're one of my favourites at the moment.
